Characterization, machinability studies, and multi-response optimization of AA 6082 hybrid metal matrix composite

This work investigated the effect of carbonized eggshell and fly ash on microstructure, mechanical properties, machinability AA 6082. The fabrication method selected for this study was stir casting. For hybrid metal matrix composite, weight fraction 2.5wt% ash. Density analysis recorded a 10.66% reduction cast composite in comparison to aluminum alloy. Improvements 12.32%, 21.91%, 8.30% were microhardness, tensile strength, compressive strength respectively. wear studies samples revealed coefficients friction (CoF) 0.499 0.290 base studies, surface roughness tool flank responses under consideration. design experiments conducted using Taguchi L16 orthogonal array. input parameters investigation cutting speeds (100 mm/min, 200 300 400 mm/min), feeds (0.1 mm/rev, 0.2 0.3 0.4 mm/rev), depths cut (0.25 mm, 0.50 0.75 1.0 mm). multi-response optimization, Taguchi-based grey relational used. variance (ANOVA) grade (GRG) that feed most influential factor GRG. initial optimization showed optimal speed, feed, depth as 100 0.1 0.25 mm confirmatory tests combination factors 400mm/min,
